What’s the difference between capping rail and fence rail?
Fence rail is attached between fence posts, giving a fence it’s strength and rigidity. You can attach vertical boards to fence rail or leave it bare depending on what type of fence you are building.
If you choose to attach vertical boards to the fence rails, then capping rails can be fixed to the top and bottom of the vertical timbers to protect the permeable grains.
Closed Board Fencing
Close-board fencing is renowned for its strength and versatility without sacrificing its appearance.
Often described as being one of the most cost effective types of fencing, due to the solid timber posts and rails which; if quality materials are used provide real value for money over the lifetime of the fence.
Common names for this style of fencing include Featheredge, Feather-board or Fence boards – though the product is identical no matter what term is used. This style of panel is formed by vertical featheredge boards which partially overlap each other and fix to the rear horizontal supporting wooden cant rails.
Board Fencing
The wooden Close Board fencing panels are fence panels formed from vertical feather edge boards, each partially overlapped and fixed to several rear horizontal supporting wooden rails. Close Board panels are traditionally used for boundary screening and are more robust than the common waney panels.

Pros and Cons of Composite Decking
Whilst timber has traditionally been used for decking, the emergence of composite timber has delivered a host of advantages over traditional materials and has led it to become the number one choice for landscapers, architects and specifiers looking for an attractive but future-proof solution.
Strong and durable, Dura Deck composite decking looks and feels just like natural wood, but provides a longer-lasting solution that is environmentally friendly, easy to install and requires minimal maintenance.
Unlike traditional timber, WPC decking boards require only basic cleaning; the product still looks new after years of use and remains cost-effective throughout its lifecycle, requiring only an occasional wash and scrub to keep it looking at its best.
Composite wood plastic decking also handles heat and weathering extremely well, being UV stable as well as resistant to the impact of moisture, mould and algae.
