Flooring Companies Fife – All Types of Flooring Covered
The professional floor fitters at LC Joinery, Roofing and Building Work have many years of experience in laying all kinds of flooring.
We look at some of the flooring possibilities for your home below:
Tiled Flooring
With floor tiles there are unlimited choices in terms of design and even shape nowadays.
Hexagonal, brick-shaped rectangular, triangular, diamond, stretched hexagon and rhomboid are all popular, alongside traditional rectangle and square.
Designs have really taken off in recent years, too. Mixed Moorish arabesque motifs are everywhere, geometrics and self-coloured, too. There are even hyper-realistic wood-effect tiles, with natural grain pattern and texture.
For a bathroom or kitchen, ceramic or porcelain tiling comes into its own. Waterproof and durable, you don’t need to worry about them getting wet from splashes or high moisture content in the air.
Tiles can be cold underfoot in winter but it is inexpensive to fit underfloor heating if you install it at the same time as the tiles. Your bathroom floor is warm and you can programme it to come on automatically, like your heating. You can even connect it to a smart home system so you can control it remotely from your smart phone.
Laminate Flooring
Like modern floor tiles, with laminate flooring, pretty much any design under the sun is available. Apart from beautiful natural wood designs, laminate flooring is available with distressed look, mismatched boards effect; there is even laminate flooring that looks exactly like floor tiles!
There is a caveat, however: any estate agent will tell you that poorly-laid laminate can put off homebuyers.
The professional fitters at LC Joinery Roofing and Building Work Ltd install all types of laminate from Egger, Quick Step and Elka. Wherever possible we can take the skirting boards off to give you that professional finish.
Hardwood Flooring
Natural hardwood flooring is unbeatable for warmth, character and elegance.
Harder wearing and more exclusive than most softwood flooring, it is also less easily damaged. We only ever source hardwood from reputable, sustainable sources. As it is a renewable resource, it is very environmentally friendly. Most often, the timber used is European oak, which has the benefit of minimal carbon used in transportation.
Looked after properly, a hardwood floor can last you a lifetime. Go for the gold standard with the stunning, timeless elegance of a traditional hardwood parquet floor!
Engineered Wood Flooring
Engineered wood combines the beauty of a natural floor with some of the advantages of laminate flooring. It is composed of layers of plywood, softwood or MDF laid crosswise to each other, then finished with real hardwood on top.
It is less susceptible to temperature changes and moisture damage, although it is not generally recommended for bathroom use.
It can be used with underfloor heating too, which is problematic with natural wood flooring.
Softwood Flooring
If you’re looking for a more affordable alternative to a real hardwood floor, softwood might be the answer.
Often pine is used, and it can complement the woodwork or furnishings in the room if the same wood is used. Less durable than hardwood flooring, pine can nevertheless be suitable for rooms with light traffic, such as bedrooms or the dining room.
As softwoods generally grow more quickly than most hardwoods, they are generally considered even more environmentally friendly, as they replenish the carbon taken out of the system rapidly.
Cork
Surprisingly durable when treated and processed for flooring – great for children’s bedrooms as it is a bit softer.
Bamboo
Technically a grass, bamboo is harder than any softwood and extremely environmentally friendly, as it grows rapidly to replenish harvests used for flooring.
Chipboard or Concrete Substrate
We can construct a concrete or chipboard substrate floor for you to finish in what ever way you prefer. As we have seen, we offer services to finish your floor surface which can include tongue and groove timber flooring, hardwood finished flooring, softwood finished flooring, laminate flooring or even tiled floors. We cover it all.
