Custom Sheds & Cabins Fife and Edinburgh | Garden Sheds | Bespoke Sheds
Are you thinking about a nice summer house, a playhouse, a sanctuary or man cave, an office in the garden, a place to get away from the kids for a while or something built just for you, to meet your needs exactly?
LC Joinery, Roofing & Building Work, Fife offer unique, custom-made sheds to suit your personal needs.
Let us know your requirements and we will be happy to build your custom-made shed for you.
Maybe you’re thinking about the long, cold Scottish winter months and you’re worried you might not get full use of your cabin outside the summer. We can supply and build you a year-round cabin, fully insulated and even connect you to utilities, so you can turn on some heating and plug in some entertainment!
Many designs such as windows, verandas and French doors are available to further customise your shed. It is possible to get it finished on the inside too, just as you’d like it. Built for whatever you require, be it a pool room, hobby place, or playhouse, you have exactly the shed you want.
Bespoke sheds do not mean that they need to be more expensive. What you get for your money are quality custom-made sheds, designed to meet your needs precisely.
What Timber Cabins Can We Do for You?
Playhouse
A magical world just for the children, where parents and grown-ups are not allowed. Children will love a space that is theirs, just for them and will make enthusiastic use of it.
Get them involved in painting the playhouse and installing simple features, like a play kitchen or coat hooks: the children’s imagination will do the rest. Your kids will be out of the house and away from their screens, playing safely, exercising their creativity while you don’t have to worry about them.
Garden Office
Find somewhere quiet to concentrate and get some work done in your own garden office. We’ll hook you up to utilities, so you can get online and do business from your secluded office cabin.
We will build in security features to make sure your office is as secure as if it were in your home and install insulation so you can put in some long working hours in comfort.
Summer House
With plenty of glass to flood the inside with sunlight, your Summer house traps the heat from the sun from early in the Spring until long into the Autumn. When the weather is too hot to site behind glass, throw open the doors, sit on the porch and make the most of our Scottish Summer!
Man Cave/Sanctuary
Not just for men!
Create your sanctuary and fill it with the stuff you like to indulge your guilty pleasures.
First, let’s get some power to the cabin, so we can plug in a fridge, at least. We’ll need to keep the fizz and beers cool. We might need to set up some entertainment, too, so we’ll look at sorting a decent WiFi signal.
What do you want to do in your sanctuary? Let us know and we’ll design it around your dreams.
Security sheds
These include features such as: reinforced doors and structure; shielded hasps or additional locking mechanisms; narrower windows to prevent access and toughened glass.
We do not generally fit skylights to security sheds, to minimise potential points of entry. Similarly, windows are kept to a minimum and reduced in size for the same reason.
Garden storage shed
If you want a secure shed for storage, let us know. We can build it to suit your needs.
Any cabin, any size, any purpose
If you don’t see your idea listed here, don’t worry.
We will build your cabin to suit your dream, to your exact specifications. We will even design it for you, too. Just tell us what you want and we’ll do the rest.
How big can it be?
We can build and install a shed cabin any size you like. Bear in mind that above certain dimensions you will need to apply for planning permission (see below) but we can help you with that, too, if you need.
Planning Permission and Building Warrants
The Scottish Government has published helpful guidance about ancillary buildings, such as cabins and custom-built sheds. Permitted Development will allow such structures to be built without planning permission if:
- It’s not located in front of the house
- It’s not used as a separate home to live in
- It, and any other development, does not take up half or more of the ‘curtilage’ – this means half or more of the grounds behind your home
- It’s not higher than 4 metres at the highest point
- Any part that’s a metre or less from the boundary is no higher than 2.5 metres
- The eaves (the part where the wall meets the roof) is no higher than 3 metres
- If the land is in a conservation area or in the grounds of a listed building, the ancillary building has a footprint of less than 4 square metres
Note: You should always check with your council’s planning department to see whether you need to apply for planning permission. Even if you meet the permitted development rules, there may be other approvals you’ll need to get.
